Move Electric sets seven lap records at Brands Hatch

Haymarket Automotive's new e-mobility specialists, Move Electric, recently set seven lap records on the Brands Hatch Indy circuit in a range of electric vehicles.

Machinery varied from a Tesla Model 3, to an electric skateboard, via a re-engineered 1961 Rolls Royce Phantom V, with a Citroën e-Dispatch XL van and electric skateboard, bicycle and scooter completing the line-up.

All seven records were set simultaneously on the 1.2-mile Indy circuit, which more conventionally plays hosts to national motor racing, including rounds of the British Touring Car Championship. For one day only however, the Kent venue played host to the broadest selection of electric vehicles imaginable.

The range of vehicles on-site allowed Move Electric to establish lap records for an electric production car, an electric van, an electromod car conversion, an electric moped, an e-bike, an electric scooter and an electric skateboard.

The Tesla model 3 topped the timing chars, with a lap record of 1m6.77s, despite being limited to 87mph. As a result the Citroën e-Dispatch XL was able to lap just 4.71s shy of the leading car's pace.

Of the two-wheeled brigade, the Silence S01 electric moped was the class leader, with rider Neil Winn putting in a time of 1m29.03s on his zero emissions urban commuter.

A 1961 Rolls-Royce Phantom V was next in the order with a lap at just over 2m07s with the Apex Predator electric skateboard rounding out the top-five with electric skateboard enthusiast Tim Wood at the helm. Gocycle's G4 e-bike lapped the circuit in 3m01.35s with Gocycle's Tom Dowrick in the saddle, whilst the Perry eHopper P4 scooter lapped slowest with a time of 5m10.03s with Autocar journalist Matt Prior onboard.
