BTCC Race 2: Ingram doubles up at Brands Hatch

11 October 2026

Tom Ingram took his second win of the day in the British Touring Car Championship at Brands Hatch. The Excelr8 Motorsport driver led from lights to flag, increasing his 2026 victory tally to five.

Ingram immediately took the lead from pole position as the race got under way, with fellow front-row starter Josh Cook slotting into second in his Speedworks Motorsport Toyota. Ricky Collard ran third initially, just ahead of this year's champion Ash Sutton, who passed Aiden Moffat off the line.

That leading quintet all started the 15-lap race on the Goodyear medium tyre, with Daryl De Leon the first of the soft-shod runners in sixth in his WSR BMW. He was one spot ahead of Mikey Doble in the Power Maxed Racing Audi, who was also running on the softer rubber.

At the front, Ingram was in control at the wheel of his Hyundai i30N. The gap to Cook would gently fluctuate throughout the race, but the leading duo remained in that order for the duration.

Behind them, Moffat slipped out of the top five after running wide at Paddock Hill Bend on lap three in his Power Maxed Racing Audi A3, dropping him to seventh.

One lap later, Sutton passed Collard with an opportunistic move at Paddock Hill Bend, as the race entered a phase in which Sutton set a series of fastest laps. Despite this showing of pace, the Alliance Racing Ford Titanium was unable to make any further progress, with the five-time title winner forced to settle for the final step on the podium.

Sutton came under late-race pressure from De Leon, who was attempting to use the grip of his softer rubber to move onto the rostrum. But the BMW could not find a way past, and instead came under attack from Doble, who powered past with a strong run out of Surtees on the final lap. Doble's final result was enough to secure this year's Independents' crown.

After running in the lower part of the top 10 earlier on, Dan Cammish worked his way into sixth in a second Alliance Racing Ford. He passed Moffat, who wound up eighth, and Collard, ultimately seventh, on the road to secure the position.

For much of the race, Daniel Lloyd's Restart Racing Hyundai and Adam Morgan's CPRL Mercedes occupied ninth and 10th. But both would miss out on a spot in the top 10 by the end. Morgan ran wide on lap 10, dropping to 12th, while Lloyd received a five-second track limits penalty a handful of laps later.

This opened the door for Dexter Patterson and Sam Osborne, contesting his penultimate BTCC race, to take ninth and 10th. Patterson will now start the last race of the season from pole position following the reversed-grid draw.

Once Lloyd's penalty was applied, Morgan rose back up to 11th, one spot ahead of Excelr8 Hyundai racer Tom Chilton, who will retire from the BTCC following the final race of the day. Lewis Selby, Daniel Rowbottom, Lewis Gilbert and Charles Rainford also benefitted from Lloyd's penalty, with the Restart Racing contender dropping to 17th.

Aron Taylor-Smith was 18th after another eventful encounter for the Laser Tools-liveried Toyotas, after he made contact with Gordon Shedden at Paddock Hill Bend. Three-time champion Shedden was forced to retire as a result.
