GT World Challenge powered by AWS will continue to race at Brands Hatch until at least 2028, following the confirmation of a new agreement between circuit owner MotorSport Vision (MSV) and SRO Motorsports Group.
The Kent circuit has been a regular fixture on the Sprint Cup Schedule since 2014, hosting an event every year since, aside from a the COVID-impacted 2020 campaign. The 2026 Sprint Cup schedule launches at Brands Hatch this weekend (2/3 May), the 12th visit to Kent for the shorter format championship.
The event is firmly established now as a flagship international fixture on the Grand Prix circuit, attracting a significant number of fans each spring. It’s a special weekend for the drivers too, with many of them counting the venue’s famed woodland layout as a favourite circuit.
The extension of this agreement, continues a relationship which began exactly three decades ago, when the 1996 BPR Global Series visited Brands Hatch. That inaugural SRO meeting at the circuit was notable for the maiden victory of the Porsche 911 GT, achieved over four hours by Hans-Joachim Stuck and Thierry Boutsen.
David Willey, MSV Group Motorsport Events Manager, said: “We’re thrilled that GT World Challenge powered by AWS will continue to race at Brands Hatch until at least 2028. The Sprint Cup fixture has become a beloved cornerstone of the season, and traditionally marks the return of headline competition on the Grand Prix circuit at the end of a long winter. It’s superb that Brands Hatch will continue to hold a place on the international sports car and GT scene.”
“It’s always a huge pleasure to work with the SRO Motorsports Group, both on its international and domestic events. The relationship between Brands Hatch and the SRO goes back 30 years, and we’re looking forward to continuing that into the future.”
Stéphane Ratel, SRO Founder and CEO, said: "We are delighted to announce that GT World Challenge powered by AWS will continue to race at Brands Hatch through at least 2028. This circuit is a true cornerstone of the Sprint Cup calendar and always delivers a fantastic fan-friendly atmosphere. Brands Hatch is also very popular among our drivers, and there are few better places to watch them compete at the limit. We must extend our thanks to MotorSport Vision and the dedicated team at the circuit for their work, which is always rewarded with a first-class racing venue. I look forward to this weekend's Sprint Cup event, and to returning to Brands Hatch in the years to come."
