ZYN BSB Race 1: Ryde beats Redding as Brands Hatch battle commences

18 July 2026

Kyle Ryde was victorious in the opening ZYN British Superbike Championship race at Brands Hatch as the reigning champion went head-to-head with Scott Redding for the victory before the race was red flagged with two laps remaining.

At the start of the race, Ryde launched off the Omologato Pole Position to lead the pack into Paddock Hill Bend for the first time. Redding though was instantly on the attack and made his move down the inside at Surtees.

The Hager PBM Racing Team rider began to try to break his rival with a small advantage of around 0.5s, but Ryde was closing down and the gap was soon 0.1s by lap 14 as the title rivals looked set to battle over the final laps.

Ryde was soon back within striking distance and on lap 15 he went for his move, down the inside at Paddock Hill Bend.

Redding was ready to launch a counter attack but the race was red flagged with two laps remaining when Eugene McManus crashed on the approach to Paddock Hill Bend.

Max Cook claimed the final place on the podium as the AJN Steelstock bimota rider continues building momentum.

Leon Haslam was fourth after a fierce five-way scrap throughout the race; the Moto Rapido Racing rider held off Christian Iddon, Ryan Vickers, Glenn Irwin and Bradley Ray onboard the special anniversary liveried McAMS Yamaha following an intense tussle. Rory Skinner and Lee Jackson completed the top ten.
