The 2026 NASCAR Euro Series got underway last weekend in Spain, as Gianmarco Ercoli and Vittorio Ghirelli secured a win apiece in the newly renamed V8GP top class. Last year’s champion Ghirelli now heads into the next round as the V8GP championship leader.

In the first of two V8GP races, Ercoli led away from pole position in his Alumitec Racing Ford Mustang to claim a lights-to-flag victory ahead of Paul Jouffreau, who crossed the line in second in his RDV Competition Ford. 2025 champion Ghirelli rounded out the podium after a close battle with Jouffreau, with American Jordan O’Brien in fourth for Hendriks Motorsport and British racer Jack Davidson securing a top-five place.

The second V8GP race of the weekend saw Ghirelli secure top-flight victory once again after holding off the chasing Garret Lowe and Nelson Piquet Jr. The former F1 driver impressed on his debut in the championship, with a maiden podium meaning he capped off his debut NASCAR Euro Series event with some silverware.

After incidents took them out of the first race, Thomas Krasonis and Julien Rehberg charged their way through the grid to bounce back to a fourth and fifth place finish respectively.

In the OPEN category, Thomas Toffel claimed a maiden victory in Race 1, before doubling up with a repeat win in Race 2 after a penalty cost Raphael Lessard a chance at his own maiden win.

The NASCAR Euro Series championship heads to France before making the journey to Brands Hatch to headline the on-track action at American SpeedFest on 6/7 June.
