Josh Cook seized the final Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship race of the year as the championship signed off for 2025 at Brands Hatch this afternoon (Sunday).
Cook lost ground from second on the grid initially, slotting into third behind the BMWs of reverse grid pole sitter Aiden Moffat and Jake Hill, in his final BTCC race. The Toyota driver re-passed Hill through Paddock Hill Bend on the second lap though and slipped past Moffat to take the lead at Surtees on lap three.
This came crucially right before the safety car appeared following a collision between Dan Cammish and Daniel Rowbottom which saw the former pitched off the track at Druids. Racing resumed on lap eight and it was a fast starting Ash Sutton who passed Moffat immediately to take second. The NAPA Racing UK driver had followed Cook past Hill earlier in the race to run third.
Sutton then set about chasing Cook down but there was little he could do about the driver further up the road, with Cook cruising home to take the win. Sutton followed him home ahead of Hill who passed Moffat to take third at Surtees on lap nine. For Hill this was a podium to end his time in the BTCC on a high note.
Fourth place went to Gordon Shedden who followed Moffat for much of the second half of the race before making a late move to take the position. Moffat did hang on to take fifth, however.
Behind that, Daniel Rowbottom ran sixth for a long time , but lost spots to the Team VERTU pair of newly crowned champion Tom Ingram and Adam Morgan in quick succession. That allowed the Hyundais to cross the line sixth and seventh with Rowbottom eighth. Senna Proctor and Sam Osborne rounded out the final top-10 of the year.
