Reigning champion Jake Hill claimed his first victory of the 2025 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship season with a commanding drive on the Brands Hatch Indy circuit this afternoon (Sunday). The win was the 133rd in the BTCC for West Surrey Racing, making them the team with the most victories in series history.
Hill held the lead from pole position at the start, launching cleanly from the line in his Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport branded BMW to lead from fellow front row starter Charles Rainford. Behind them, Tom Ingram swept round the outside of Team Vertu teammate Adam Morgan to take third as the field exited Paddock Hill Bend for the first time.
From there, the leading quartet settled into an order they’d remain in until the end, albeit close together. Rainford demonstrated impressive pace in just his second BTCC weekend to set a new lap record on lap 10 in his LKQ Euro Car Parts branded BMW, but he wasn’t able to do anything about Hill ahead.
The gap between the BMWs shrunk down in the final stages with Rainford closely matching last year’s champion, but it was Hill’s chrome blue machine which crossed the line first on a sunny morning at the Kent circuit. It was a similar story behind that, with Morgan edging closer to Ingram late on, but the two Hyundais remained in the same order across the line.
Behind that, Dan Cammish claimed a distant fifth, just over eight seconds back from the leaders, after passing Mikey Doble to take the spot early on. Doble himself ended up sixth after briefly dropping to seventh, but he re-passed Sam Osborne to take place he’d hold to the finish on lap three.
Dan Lloyd’s Restart Hyundai crossed the line seventh on the road, but a five-second penalty dropped him to ninth behind Daryl DeLeon and Osborne. Behind that, Ash Sutton worked his way into the top-10 after being knocked out of qualifying early on yesterday.
