Martin Doubek held on to win in the second and final NASCAR Euro Series Open race of the American SpeedFest 12 powered by Lucas Oil weekend at Brands Hatch, holding off Thomas Krasonis to win by less than half a second.

Doubek initially made a poor get away from second on the grid, as Jordan O’Brien started well from pole position to lead the pack into Paddock Hill. However, Doubek immediately settled into a strong rhythm and was soon on the back of O’Brien. Race one winner Melvin De Groot was in third, with British driver Matthew Ellis fourth and Greek racer Thomas Krasonis following.

O’Brien initially defended well, but it wasn’t enough to hold off the chasing Doubek who made his move on the exit of Clearways to move past on the Brabham straight. In the chasing pack, it was Krasonis who was flying as he soon made his way up to third after moving past Ellis and begun chasing down O’Brien.

The American driver was powerless to stop the advancing Greek, who cruised past at Graham Hill bend. O’Brien would later retire with a mechanical issue.

Out front, Krasonis began his chase of Doubek for the lead, with the Czech driver defending superbly and showcasing his pace to keep the PK Carsport driver behind. Doubek’s resilience would pay off when a late race red flag brought the race to an end and giving the victory to Doubek.

Krasonis therefore powered to second place, with Patrick Schober completing the podium. Race one winner De Groot was fourth with Matthew Ellis classified fifth despite being caught up in the red flag incident. Dominique Schaak finished sixth followed by Florian Richard.

Eighth was Sandro Tavartkiladze, with Gordon Barnes and Thomas Dombrowski rounding out the top 10 in ninth and tenth respectively.
