Kevin Tse and Maximilian Götz will start tomorrow’s British GT Championship race at Brands Hatch from pole position after topping the aggregate times during the split two-driver qualifying session this afternoon (Saturday).
Tse gave the duo the platform by going fastest in the opening 10-minute segment for AM drivers. Götz then followed this up with third in the subsequent PRO session, securing the best overall time once the two were combined to put the 2 Seas Motorsport Mercedes-AMG top of the pile.
Second overall was Blackthorn’s Aston Martin, which didn’t actually factor in the top-three in either of the individual sessions. Both Giacomo Petrobelli and Jonny Adam were fourth in their respective outings, but once the times were added together they fared second just a couple of tenths off the outright pace.
Alex Martin and Patrick Kujala will start third, which is exactly where the former wound up following the AM session. Kujala was only able to go eighth amongst the PRO contenders, but it was still enough for the Barwell Motorsport Lamborghini to start from the second row. It will be joined there by the sister car of Rob Collard and Hugo Cook.
Morgan Tillbrook and Marvin Kirchhöfer were the fifth quickest pairing for Optimum Motorsport, leading the McLaren charge following the manufacturer’s strong showing in practice earlier on. Charles Dawson and Kiern Jewiss were sixth, whilst Andrew Howard and Tom Wood took seventh after the latter went fastest of the PRO drivers.
Simon Orange and Marcus Clutton’s McLaren was eighth ahead of another of the British machines in ninth, that of Mark Smith and Martin Plowman. Nick Jones and Sven Muller completed the top-10.
