There was literally nothing in it in the British GT Championship’s Pre-Qualifying session at Brands Hatch this afternoon with two McLarens tied at the top of the times. The Paddock Motorsport 720S GT3 Evo officially topped the session however, having set the time of 1m23.599s around the Grand Prix circuit first.
Martin Plowman set the benchmark time on the 34th of 37 laps set by the car he shares with Mark Smith, with Marvin Kirchhöfer matching it a short amount of time later. That drew the Optimum Motorsport machine he co-pilots with Morgan Tillbrook level during the latter stages of the session.
Third was yet another McLaren, the Free Practice topping example from Orange Racing by JMH, which is shared by Simon Orange and Marcus Clutton. This car only missed out on equalling the leaders by a narrow margin too, with Clutton’s final lap of the session falling just 0.087s off the pace.
The leading non-McLaren was the Team Parker Racing Porsche of Nick Jones and Sven Muller with Kevin Tse and Maximilian Götz’s Mercedes-AMG rounding out the top-five. Behind that was the leading Barwell Motorsport Lamborghini of Rob Collard and Hugo Cook with yet another McLaren, the Optimum Motorsport entry of Jon Kearney and Callum Macleod, seventh.
A pair of Aston Martins ended the session eighth and ninth with Beechdean Motorsport’s car driven by Andrew Howard and Tom Wood just ahead of Giacomo Petrobelli and Jonny Adam in the Blackthorn entry. The second Barwell Lamborghini of Alex Martin and Patrick Kujala was 10th.
