The 2024 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship comes to a conclusion at Brands Hatch this weekend. Following 27 races across nine rounds at seven different circuits so far, it’s all built towards a final decider on the Kent circuit’s famed Grand Prix circuit this weekend (5/6 October).
And there is absolutely nothing to separate the leading contenders in either the marquee Drivers’ or Manufacturers/Constructors titles as the series returns to Brands Hatch for three deciding races on the legendary Grand Prix circuit this weekend.
The fight for individual honours has been one for the history books, with nothing separating Jake Hill and Tom Ingram as the pair enter the weekend on 365 points apiece. Courtesy of countback, Hill just edges in front at the top of the standings thanks to his seven race wins to Ingram’s five, with the Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport driver boasting the most wins of anyone.
Local hero Hill heads into the weekend having had his best season to date, securing brilliant victories and consistent results throughout the year. He will need another faultless weekend if he hopes to secure the title on the circuit that he’s already won at in a touring car this year - albeit a ‘90s Nissan Primera.
Ingram arrives in Kent after a relentless season of top-five finishes and podiums, meaning that although achieving two fewer wins than Hill, the Team BRISTOL STREET MOTORS driver is level on points. Ingram is in fine form off the back of a supreme double victory last time out at Silverstone, conquering the conditions while doing so.
Also in contention is four-time champion Ash Sutton in his NAPA Racing UK Ford Focus. Although his chances at a record fourth title look slim, sitting 33 points behind the leading pair, write off Sutton at your own risk. The unpredictability of finale weekend means his deficit is large but not unsurpassable. Dan Cammish, Josh Cook and Colin Turkington also hold a mathematical, albeit small, chance at the main prize.
The Manufacturers/Constructors title is also on the line, with Alliance Racing/Ford holding just a four-point advantage over BMW with three races to run. Sunday’s ultimate showdown follows Free Practice and Qualifying on Saturday, where drivers will battle through ‘Quick Six Qualifying’. And this offers a singular but potentially vital championship point ahead of the wheel-to-wheel contests the next day.
Further track action comes from the final rounds of the JCW MINI CHALLENGE, Porsche Carrera Cup GB, ROKiT F4 British Championship and Porsche Sprint Challenge GB.
Tickets for the BTCC finale at Brands Hatch are still available at discounted advance rates until 4pm on Thursday 3 October.
