Lamborghini machinery moved to the top of the British GT Championship times, with the title contending Barwell Motorsport machine of Alex Martin and Sandy Mitchell leading the way in the Pre-Qualifying session at Brands Hatch this afternoon (Saturday).

The pace was marginally faster than the earlier session, with the fastest of the car’s 33 laps coming in at 1m23.546s on the Kent circuit’s longer layout. This was enough to secure the top spot in the 60-minute on-track period by a slender margin of just 0.043s from the Optimum Motorsport McLaren of Tom Gamble and Mark Radcliffe.

Another McLaren ran third in the hands of Joshua Caygill and Alex Buncombe with Kevin Tse and Maximilian Goetz lapping fourth fastest in their Mercedes-AMG. Another car from the German marque completed the top-five, with father and son pairing Richard and Sam Neary continuing the strong form which saw them top the order during the earlier Free Practice session.

Mercedes-AMG and McLaren machinery featured strongly further down the top-10, with Mike Price and Callum MacLeod’s example of the former taking sixth, whilst the Garage 59 entries, representing the latter, were seventh and eighth with Shaun Balfe and Adam Smalley just ahead of Morgan Tillbrook and Marcus Clutton.

The top-10 was completed the J&S Racing Audi of Sacha Kakad and Hugo Cook and the Beechdean Motorsport Aston Martin of Andrew Howard and Tom Wood.

The series leading Lamborghini of Rob and Ricky Collard failed to set a time after the car developed an issue in the pits.
