The battle for the 2024 British GT Championship comes to a thrilling conclusion at Brands Hatch for the first time in 15 years, on 28/29 September. The famous Grand Prix circuit will play host to a full field of GT3 and GT4 machinery as the fight for titles reaches boiling point.
On-track action is headlined by Sunday’s two-hour British GT contest that will see Lamborghinis, McLarens, Aston Martins and more contend with the challenges of endurance racing, including pitstops, refueling and driver changes.
It’s the battle of the Lamborghinis for the GT3 Drivers Championship, with the Barwell Motorsport Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo2 of Rob and Ricky Collard leading the standings from the sister car of Alex Martin and Sandy Mitchell by 24.5 points.
A dominant victory last time out at Donington Park saw the Collards take command at the top of the standings, but with the maximum amount of compensation time to serve as a result, victory is not guaranteed. The Garage 59 McLaren 720S GT3 Evo of Shaun Balfe and Adam Smalley also remains in mathematical contention, albeit requiring misfortune for both Barwell cars.
In GT4, the battle for Drivers Championship honours couldn’t be closer, with the top-three contenders separated by just seven and a half points. The Forsetti Motorsport Aston Martin Vantage of Mikey Porter and Jamie Day has only a three and a half point lead from the Optimum Motorsport McLaren Artura of Jack Brown and Zac Meakin, while Team Parker Racing’s Mercedes-AMG of Charles Dawson and Seb Morris sits a further four points behind.
Junior series championships to be decided
The GB3 Championship partnered by the BRDC will also crown its 2024 champion, with New Zealand’s Louis Sharp leading the way from British driver John Bennett by 33 points. Poland’s Tymek Kucharczyk also remains in the fight, just three points further back from Bennett.
The fight for the GB4 championship wraps up too, with Sweden’s Linus Granfors leading from the British pair of Alisha Palmowski and Harry Burgoyne, with Granfors holding a 35-point lead heading into the weekend.
The champions from both series will receive major boosts to their single-seater careers, with GB3 graduates often progressing into FIA Formula 3, Formula 2 and beyond.
Further track action comes from the final rounds of the Ginetta Junior Championship, Ginetta GT Academy and Ginetta GT Championship. Expect close racing and hard-fought battles across the grids.
A free pit walk and autograph session also features, allowing fans to get up close to the drivers and machines on the morning of the main Sunday raceday.
Tickets for the British GT Championship finale at Brands Hatch are still available at discounted advance rates until 4pm on Thursday 26 September. Main raceday (Sunday) admission is priced at £25 for adults, with discounted rates for teenagers aged 13-15, and free entry for children under-13 all weekend.
