Legendary British Touring Car Championship driver John Cleland will make a special guest appearance at Super Touring Power 2 when the smash hit tin top celebration returns to Brands Hatch on 29/30 June.

The iconic double champion, who is best known for his time at the wheel of Vauxhall machinery as part of the British manufacturer’s official effort, will join a line-up of familiar faces past and present at the event. The Scotsman will appear alongside other notable touring car personalities including Anthony Reid, Andy Rouse, Jake Hill and Steve Soper.

Cleland’s planned visit to the event comes in the same year that renowned race team and engineering firm RML Group will attend to celebrate its 40th anniversary. RML took over the factory Vauxhall effort from 1994 with Cleland as part of its driver line-up, with team and driver enjoying a famous title success a year later at the peak of the Super Touring era.

The 1989 and 1995 champion had originally planned to attend the inaugural Super Touring Power last year, but he’s looking forward to joining festivities for the first time this summer. Cleland will be around throughout the event to meet fans and take part in Q&A sessions on the Autosport Stage.

Cleland said: “I am really looking forward to this year’s event after missing last year due to business commitments. It’s an event to celebrate the golden era of touring cars and remind the spectators of just how great these cars and drivers were during the ‘90s. Catching up with some of my old cars and some of my old racing buddies will be great fun and am looking forward to it!”
