TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK has confirmed that Andrew Watson will join its official entry for the 2024 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship season.

Watson performed well in his maiden BTCC campaign throughout 2023, joining the grid for the first time after a career which includes previous stints in the FIA World Endurance Championship and British GT Championship. The Northern Irishman finished fourth on his BTCC debut at Donington Park before going on to achieve podium finishes and establish himself as a capable runner.

Watson joins forces with the Cheshire-based Speedworks Motorsport as it enters its sixth season under the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK banner with official works backing. This news follows the recent announcement that Josh Cook will race for Speedworks’ satellite LKQ Euro Car Parts with SYNETIQ team and news of the second TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK driver is expected in the coming weeks.

Racing gets underway at Donington Park on 27/28 April with visits to Brands Hatch, Snetterton and Oulton Park scheduled through the first half of the year. Return fixtures at both Donington Park and Brands Hatch will come later in the season, whilst both venues will also host official pre-season tests.

Watson said: “I’m extremely excited to be joining TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK and Speedworks Motorsport for the 2024 season. They are proven winners in the BTCC with a fantastic track record – and I’m hoping to add to that tally! With a year under my belt, I can go into the season properly acclimatised to the championship and hit the ground running.”
