Josh Cook topped the times in the final Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship Free Practice session of the year on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit this afternoon (Saturday).
Cook's effort of 1m30.784s was enough to secure the top place on the timesheet by just four thousandths from Ricky Collard's Toyota at the end of a very close 35-minute track session. How reflective these results will be of qualifying pace will become clearer when the grid is set during a half hour period later this afternoon (approx 3.40pm).
Bobby Thompson completed the top-three in one of the Cupra Leons run by the local Go-Fix with Autoaid Breakdown outfit. This continued his impressive form from the earlier session as circuit running continued in dry conditions around the Kent circuit's longer layout.
Mikey Doble, fresh from his maiden BTCC pole position rose up to fourth in the second session, whilst teammate Aron Taylor-Smith completed a strong period of running for the Power Maxed Racing team with fifth in another of its Vauxhall Astras.
Four-time champion Colin Turkington was sixth quickest ahead of reigning champion Tom Ingram, who lapped the Grand Prix circuit quicker than title rival Ash Sutton once again. Series leader Sutton could only manage 18th fastest.
Tom Chilton, Adam Morgan and Dan Cammish rounded out the top-ten.
