This weekend’s Formula Ford Festival at Brands Hatch will feature a special celebration of the Elden marque, with some period racers from the car maker’s past expected to appear.

The reunion has been put together by Super Classic Pre-’99 FF1600 Coordinator Alan Bowles, with past Elden racers Chris Smith and Ted Wentz amongst those planning to appear. The event happens to coincide with the 51st anniversary of Johnny Gerber’s 1972 World Final victory at the wheel of an Elden and he too is expected to appear.

Elden, which began manufacturing race cars in the 1960s, formerly produced its cars in Wrotham just down the road from the famous race circuit in Kent. Many of the old faces from Elden’s past will be gathering in a hospitality area to reminisce about Formula Ford history.

This year’s Formula Ford Festival will be the 52nd, with a strong field of clubman  competitors aiming to join an illustrious roll of honour.
