Comtoyou Racing Audi fastest heading into GT World Challenge qualifying

13 May 2023

The Comtoyou Racing Audi R8 LMS GT3 of Christopher Haase and Lucas Legeret set the fastest time of the day so far in the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Pre-Qualifying session on the Brands Hatch GP circuit this afternoon (Saturday).

Haase set the best time with around 13 minutes remaining, and shortly before a red flag brought the session to an early end. In a tighter session than this morning’s practice, the Audi duo were 0.173s faster than the Emil Fey Racing Ferrari 296 of Konsta Lappalainen and Giacomo Altoe.

Two more Audis were next up, with the Alex Aka/Lorenzo Patrese R8 of Tresor Attempto Racing a quarter of a second clear of the second Comtoyou Racing machine of Gilles Magnus and Finlay Hutchinson, who survived offs at Paddock Hill and Graham Hill Bend in the final 20 minutes of the session.

Practice pace setters Raffaele Marciello and Timur Boguslavskiy were only fifth this time around in their Akkodis ASP Team Mercedes AMG, but only just over half a second away from the outright pace.

Three more Audis were next up, with the Tresor Orange 1 machine of Mattia Drudi and Ricardo Feller in sixth, ahead of the two Sainteloc Junior Team cars of Christopher Mies and Gregoire Domoustier, and Patric Niederhauser and Erwan Bastard.

The second Emil Frey Racing Ferrari of Thierry Vermeulen and Albert Costa was ninth, with the Jordan Love/Frank Bird Haupt Racing Team Mercedes completing the top-10, which was covered by 0.857s.

Qualifying for the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS is due to commence at 15.55.
