The scintillating battle for the 2023 Bennetts British Superbike Championship blasts to Brands Hatch this weekend (21-23 July), with a trio of races from the world’s leading domestic motorcycle racing category the highlight of a real summer sizzler.
The fight to become this year’s champion heated up big time at Snetterton last time out, as BeerMonster Ducati’s Tommy Bridewell romped to his first ever victory hat trick. Bridewell had to fight hard for his triumphs, sweeping past his rivals in all three contests, and pipping teammate Glenn Irwin to the line in a near-photo finish in the final event to establish a 25-point lead over Irwin at the top of the standings.
LAMI OMG Racing Yamaha’s Kyle Ryde is also firmly in the mix, and like the top-two, has won four races so far this year. With former champions Josh Brookes (FHO Racing BMW Motorrad Team) and Leon Haslam (ROKiT BMW Motorrad Team) also in the fight, plus McAMS Yamaha’s Jason O’Halloran looking for that first title, the action will be full of spice, with over 20 other riders also gunning for victory.
Following the Omologato Superpole qualifying session on Saturday, the first Bennetts BSB contest comes in the form of the BikeSocial Sprint Race at 17.15, before two full length races follow on Sunday afternoon.
Adding to the fun is the packed out support class roster, including the Quattro Group British Supersport and British GP2, Pirelli National and Junior Superstock ,R&G British Talent Cup, ABK Beer 0% BMW Motorrad F 900 R Cup and the HEL Performance British Junior Supersport, with 17 races in total across Saturday and Sunday.
The three Bennetts BSB contests will crown the Monster Energy King of Brands, and whilst riders battle to claim the trophy, the fun will continue off-track courtesy of the Monster Energy Zone adjacent to the Brabham Straight throughout the event. Live DJ sets, drink giveaways, and mountain bike wheelie competitions will be part of the fun all weekend, while the legendary Rig Riots will also be back on Saturday and Sunday, with appearances from Monster Energy athletes O’Halloran, Brookes, Tito Rabat and Peter Hickman.
If that wasn’t enough, the event at Brands Hatch is one of the biggest summer parties of the season. The BSB Rocks concert on the campsite stage will power up on Saturday evening, with music from Gianna Scalera & The Jury before AC/DC tribute act Hells Bells perform classic hits from one of the world’s most iconic groups.
In addition, the free of charge eBay Pit Walk will take place during the lunch break on Sunday, allowing fans to meet the stars of the show, plus there’ll be big screens in the most popular viewing areas, plus trade stands.
Tickets are available at advance discounted rates until 4pm on Wednesday 19 July, after which they’ll be available upon arrival at the venue, at gate prices. Main Sunday race day tickets are priced at £34 in advance for adults, with discounted entry for teenagers aged 13-15 and free entry for children under-13. For more information and to book, click here.
