Super Touring Power to return in 2024

13 July 2023

Brands Hatch’s Super Touring Power, which debuted at the Kent circuit earlier this month, will return for a second edition on 29/30 June 2024. The new event, which was a smash hit, transported fans back to the ‘90s with a special celebration of one of the British Touring Car Championship’s most fondly remembered eras, and the second running of the event promises to build on that.

On-track action will take place on both the full Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit and shorter Indy layout once again, with competitive action primarily curated by the Classic Touring Car Racing Club (CTCRC). Saturday’s action will take place entirely on the longer GP circuit before racing shifts to the venue’s more compact configuration for the Sunday.

Both days will once again feature headline entertainment from Super Touring machinery, ensuring that fans can re-live the full ‘90s tin top experience. The ’90s Super Tourers will once again act as a focal point for the meeting, with star race cars complemented by a selection of special displays, demonstrations and guest appearances.

But the event will also act as a much broader celebration of touring car history, with races for machinery from the ‘60s right through to the early ‘00s. A new highlight for next summer is a planned Group A race, enabling competitors and spectators to return to the fire-breathing era of ‘80s Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500s and BMW M3 E30s. Other generations of race-prepared saloon car will be represented by a broad offering of regular championships and series from the CTCRC.

The 2023 event’s off-track show included a retro car show and opportunities for visitors to revisit the popular TOCA PlayStation games in addition to the special race car displays. There was also a dedicated interview stage hosted by Autosport Magazine, with guests including Alain Menu, Andy Rouse, Paul Radisich, Steve Soper, and other star personalities from touring car history.

Further details of Super Touring Power on 29/20 June 2024, including special content, the complete race line-up and other details will be revealed in the coming months.

Classic Touring Car Racing Club Chairman, Stuart Caie, said: “The response from the CTCRC drivers has been phenomenal. None of us could ever have expected how well the event would be received by the fans. I am sure a lot of you have seen on social media people asking for it to happen again and of course once Autosport published the ‘super idea too good not to be repeated’ article, so how could we not? In 2024 we will add a Group A race as we feel the crowd would like nothing more than to see the fire breathing RS500s and BMWs fighting it out on the GP circuit as they did in period!”

MSV Group Motorsport Event Manager, David Willey, said: "I couldn’t be more delighted to work with Stuart Caie and everyone at the CTCRC once again to host Super Touring Power in 2024. The positive reception we’ve had to this year’s event has been quite simply overwhelming and it’s very clear that there is a huge amount of appeal for this to continue as a retro touring car showcase. This has been a real passion project for those of us involved, and we can’t wait to get stuck in!”

Ticket information for Super Touring Power 2024 will be shared later this year, with other details announced in due course.
