Brands Hatch marked ten years under MSV's stewardship with its annual Villagers' Day event last Saturday (8 February), raising well over £3,000 for the local community.

The event, which first took place just after MSV's formation, is open to anyone living within one mile of the circuit. It offers a chance for them to enjoy activities offered by the venue, provided the participant makes a small donation to charity.

Visitors were able to get behind the wheel of some of the circuit's driving experience vehicles including the BMW M3, Peugeot 206 rally car, Land Rover Defender.

Other activities included flying passenger laps in a Palmer Jaguar Le Mans-style sports car, driven by an expert Brands Hatch instructor, plus YoungDrive MINIs for younger visitors. Over 580 experiences were facilitated during the day.

The Brands Hatch Liaison Group headed by MotorSport Vision's Chief Executive Jonathan Palmer, chose Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance Trust as this year's beneficiary. Each activity attracted a fee of £6, and £3,484 was raised.

Brands Hatch circuit manager Mike Groves commented: "Despite the best efforts of the British weather, we had an excellent turnout for our tenth Villagers' Day. Exceeding last year's fundraising total was a fantastic achievement and we'd like to thank everyone who came along and we look forward to welcoming them back throughout the 2014 season."
