Brands Hatch raises over £3,000 for local hospice - 19 Jan 2009

Brands Hatch has raised over £3,000 for the Lions Hospice in Farningham through its Villagers' Day fundraising event.

More than 500 local residents attended the annual activity day, which is open to anyone living within one mile of the circuit. For a £6 donation to the Lions Hospice, visitors had the chance to test out some of Brands Hatch's driving experience vehicles including the RaceMaster Renault Mégane saloon car, RallyMaster Peugeot 206 and MudMaster off-road Land Rover Defender.

Local residents were also able to experience life in the fast lane with special passenger rides in a Palmer Jaguar JP2 Le Mans-style sports car and Caterham Seven, driven by expert Brands Hatch instructors. There were several childrens' activities available too, including the chance for youngsters over 4'10'' tall to race around the 'mini Brands Hatch' karting circuit.

Brands Hatch circuit manager Mike Groves was thrilled by the success of the day: "Having recently moved to Brands Hatch from Cadwell Park, it was nice to walk around and meet some of the local residents and show them what the circuit has to offer. Villagers' Day is a great way for us to engage with members of the community and to raise money for the Lions Hospice, which is a terrific cause."
