Brands Hatch fan Andrew Nethercott has made a longer journey
than most to visit this weekend's Masters Festival (28-30 May),
having taken a transatlantic flight to be at the circuit!
Andrew was born in nearby Dartford and brought up in neighbouring
West Kingsdown before emigrating to Canada with his parents in
1969, then moving to Syracuse in upstate New York.
Andrew's recent family history is closely linked with the circuit
and his grandfather Phil competed in sidecar races back when Brands
Hatch was a grass track, and later in life sold tickets on the
gate.
Paying a brief visit to the circuit prior to the weekend with
members of his family that have remained in the UK, Andrew was
thrilled to receive a limited edition race poster, which is sure to
be given pride of place in his garage back in the States!
The family are keen motorists and both Andrew and his father own
classic British roadsters, indeed Andrew is looking forward to
seeing MGs and Triumphs on track at the Masters.
"Brands Hatch has always been dear to my heart," Andrew said. "It
has a great influence on my family, so coming here to see an event
with classic cars has significance as it gets right back to my
roots."
