Top golfers receive driving masterclass at Brands Hatch - 19 May 2009

Two of Europe's top golfers took to the circuit at Brands Hatch today (Tuesday) in MotorSport Vision's BMW M3s ahead of their appearance at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth. Spaniard Miguel Angel Jimenez and Briton Oliver Wilson were given one-to-one tuition by Andy Priaulx, before the triple World Touring Car Champion took over for a series of 'hot lap' demonstration runs.

The BMW M3, which has 420bhp and is capable of 0-60mph in 4.2 seconds, impressed both golfers. Jimenez, who is known as 'The Mechanic' due to his passion for cars, enthused: "The M3 is fantastic, a really great car. The experience was great, especially being driven by Andy Priaulx - I love cars so it was incredible to see what they can do in proper hands!"

"The car was fantastic", added Wilson after his laps with Priaulx. "I've never driven an M3 before and it was just phenomenal and when Andy showed what it was capable of it was quite amazing."

Both golfers have experienced trackdays in the past but this was their first visit to Brands Hatch. "I have never been here before and it is a special track. The undulations are great and nothing like any of the other tracks I have been to before, it makes the experience even better," said Wilson.

Jimenez was equally impressed: "I have done experiences in Jarama and Jerez before but Paddock Hill Bend was a real challenge. You had to really concentrate or you would have ended up going off!"

Priaulx was pleased with the performances put in by both golfers: "These two may be world class drivers on the golf course but it was clear from today that they are both skilled at this type of driving too. It's always great to come back to Brands Hatch and we've had a lot of fun this morning."
