Seventh annual Villagers' Day raises money for local hospice - 21 Jan 2011

20/01/2011 - Brands Hatch raised over £2,700 for the Ellenor Lions Hospice at its seventh annual Villagers' Day event last Sunday (16 January).

The community fun day was open to anyone living within one mile of the circuit, and over 800 local residents visited to enjoy driving masterclasses, passenger rides and behind-the-scenes circuit tours.

For a £6 charitable donation, visitors were able to get behind the wheel of some of the circuit's driving experience vehicles including the BMW M3, Peugeot 206 rally car and Land Rover Defender.

Other activities included flying passenger laps in a Palmer Jaguar Le Mans-style sports car, driven by an expert Brands Hatch instructor, and children's karting courtesy of Buckmore Park.

The Brands Hatch Liaison Group headed by MotorSport Vision's Chief Executive Jonathan Palmer, decided that all funds this year should go to the Ellenor Lions Hospice which offers care and support for adults and children with life threatening and life limiting conditions.

Brands Hatch circuit manager Mike Groves was delighted with the showing on Sunday; "It was great to see another strong turnout for the seventh annual Villagers' Day at Brands Hatch. Not only did it give us the opportunity to continue to build on the strong working links between the venue and local residents, but also allowed us to raise a significant sum of money for the Ellenor Lions Hospice - an extremely worthwhile cause. I look forward to welcoming back residents at the great events we have lined up for them this season."
