106-year-old becomes oldest person ever to lap a circuit at Brands Hatch - 25 Mar 2009

Dulcibella King-Hall from Tunbridge Wells made history at Brands Hatch today (Wednesday), when she became the oldest person ever to lap a race circuit.

Miss King-Hall turns 107 this Saturday and, as part of her birthday celebrations, she enjoyed a 'ride of a lifetime' around the Brands Hatch Indy circuit in a BMW M3 Coupé.

As well as being the oldest person to ever experience a passenger ride, Dulcibella is the first member of the public to take a trip in one of Brands Hatch's new M3s, which are capable of reaching 0-62mph in 4.8 seconds.

Dulcibella enjoyed some flying laps of the circuit courtesy of Brands Hatch senior instructor Gary Palmer, reaching a top speed of 108mph.

Born in 1902, Dulcibella has been passionate about cars her whole life, and tested a wide variety of vehicles commandeered from civilian use during the Second World War. However, she has only ever had one day of driving instruction in her life - touring London in a car owned by her father's friend.

Jonathan Palmer, Chief Executive of Brands Hatch owner MotorSport Vision, said: "We're delighted that Dulcibella is another person to have chosen high speed lapping at Brands Hatch as a must-do thing in life! And what an incredible inspiration she is - I'd like to know what her secret is to enable me to live for another 55 years!

"As she likes her speed, our new BMW M3s certainly provided her with one of the most exhilarating experiences of her life - which says a lot when you've had 107 years of them!"
