The Masters Historic Festival returns to Brands Hatch for a traditional Bank Holiday weekend of classic racing action this May Bank Holiday weekend.
This year's event will celebrate the life and career of
James Hunt, who won the Formula One World
Championship 40 years ago in 1976, with Brands
Hatch playing a major role in an incredibly dramatic F1
season. Hunt also won the Race of Champions non-championship event
that year, when he went wheel-to-wheel with friend and rival Niki
Lauda.
Hunt's larger than life character will be celebrated by
demonstration runs and a display from cars he raced during his
career, from Minis to the Hesketh and McLaren Formula 1
cars that forged his reputation, plus memorabilia from his
career, including his famous race helmet and the 1976 Japanese
Grand Prix trophy - from the race that completed his title
success. His son Freddie will be guest of
honour, presenting trophies and signing a new James
Hunt publication.
You can also share your memories of James by adding photos of him to a picture board or tweeting your memories and photos to @mastershistoric using #jameshunt

Racing will be headlined by the FIA Masters Historic Formula One Championship, which celebrates Hunt's era of the sport, with cars from the late 1960s to early 1980s recalling the golden days of the British Grand Prix. The BOAC 1000 sportscar classic will also be celebrated, with action from Ford GT40s, Lola T70s and more in the FIA Masters Sports Car Championship.
The event is one of the historic racing highlights of the year, with classic single-seater, GT and saloon machinery also taking to the full, classic Grand Prix circuit - one of the few to have retained all of its character from the halcyon days of motor racing. Plus there's plenty to see and do away from the circuit, including vast car club displays.
