Brands Hatch (GP)
Friday 01 - Sunday 03 July 2016

The Historic Sports Car Club (HSCC) will celebrate its 50th anniversary in style with a major three day race meeting on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit this July, which will also feature extensive car displays, demonstrations of special cars (including a Jochen Mass McLaren M23), live music, guest appearances from past legends and much more!

The revamped three-day Legends of Brands Hatch Superprix meeting will star stunning F1 cars, sports cars, and touring cars from the Kent circuit's 90-year story, with over 500 entries already confirmed, including a record 105 Formula Juniors!

One of the most exciting spectacles will be the revived Historic Race of Champions, which will recall the venue's past as the host of non-championship F1 fixtures with races for powerful 1970s single-seaters, including screaming Formula 5000 machines. Running around Brands Hatch's classic longer layout, which has changed little since the original Race of Champions events, this will be one of the must-see spectacles of the season.

Meanwhile classically-modelled F1 cars will return to the HSCC showcase with races for the Historic Grand Prix Car Association, which will recreate the mid-'60s era in which Kent first hosted World Championship racing. Famous names including Lotus, Cooper, and Brabham are expected to appear, with cars resplendent in their beautifully simple original liveries.

The pulsating Super Touring Car battles of the '90s will be relived too, with a pair of races starring 20-plus cars from the British Touring Car Championship's most fondly remembered period.

Plus there's extensive car displays, live music from 60s covers bands and more!

Super Touring Cars

Recalling the BTCC's greatest era, the 1990s, when manufacturers employed the best drivers in the world. Hondas, Nissans, Vauxhalls, BMWs and Peugeots from tin top racing's halcyon days will all feature. Expect to see a few famous names on the grid.

Historic Race of Champions (Derek Bell Trophy)

This series of races sees historic single seater F2 and F5000 machines from the late sixties and seventies out ton circuit. This series pays homage to a time in which Peter Gethin and Jody Scheckter were still trying to make the final step into F1.

Historic Road Sports

Cars from Lotus, Morgan and Alfa Romeo as well as many others compete in a battle for road-legal production Sports and GTs built and raced between 1947 and 1969. Extra points are awarded for driving the car to and from the circuit.

70s Road Sports

This series captures the essence of the 1970s with road-legal production and Sports GTs of the era competing for top honours. You can expect to see assorted Porsches, Jaguars and Lancias as well as a variety of other marques battling here.

Historic Touring Cars

This championship is for saloon cars that were in production before 1966. Mini Coopers, Ford Anglia, Lotus Cortinas and many other cars will form a packed grid of cars eclectic as they are exciting. Expect to see them sideways from time to time!

Guards Trophy

This event is for GT and Sportscars that raced internationally before 1966. Chevron B8s, Jaguar E-types, Lotus Elans and MGBs are only a handful of the models featured. Highly popular with the drivers this event is rarely anything other than full.

Pre ’80 Endurance Series

This category is for the sports –prototypes which inhabited the global sports car scene of the 1970s.

Historic Formula Ford

This championship is open to any Formula Ford 1600 car built and raced before 1972. With a complete lack of aerodynamics, much of the speed is down to driver ability. The result is some of the most spectacular driving in historic single seaters.

Classic Formula 3

Between 1971 and 1984 F3 was the ultimate proving ground for drivers including Ayrton Senna, Nelson Piquet and Jonathan Palmer to prove their single seater credentials. This series is a fitting tribute with Ralts, Chevrons and many other chassis.

Historic Formula 3

Between 1964 and 1970 these single seater F3 cars raced internationally in the UK and throughout Europe. During this period Emerson Fittipaldi, Carlos Pace and Sir Jackie Stewart progressed through the ranks and on to F1!

Historic Formula Junior

This was an early proving ground for future stars; existing between 1958 and 1963 this series nurtured the talent of Jim Clark! Despite their age these classically modelled single seaters still provide one of the fullest grids on the historic scene.

Historic Formula Ford 2000

This was the slicks and wings alternative to traditional Formula Ford in the 1970s. Tiff Needell, Tommy Byrne and the late David Leslie all cut their teeth in this form of racing and this illustrious past is represented by large grids.

Historic Formula 2

One step down from Formula 1, these racing machines are the most powerful single seaters from the 1970s after their contemporary F1 counterparts. Names such as Ronnie Peterson and Jacques Laffite, to name a couple, raced these cars.
